Parents as Partners

We are excited to bring you a new Parent Program.  The Suzuki method is a unique methodology that is a natural learning process also known as the mother tongue method. 
This course will provide you with the understanding and the tools to support your child on their musical journey in the Suzuki method, and will be led by renowned Suzuki Teacher trainer Elayne Ras in 2 X 2 hour sessions; 2:00-4:00 pm on September 21 (Church of the Incarnation) and October 5 (QEPCCC).

 

Session 1: The Suzuki Triangle (child, parent, teacher) and More (Sept 21)

  • What to expect from all sides of the triangle, and how it changes over time.
  • Role of the parent at lessons, groups, and home practice.
  • Group classes - Why are they important?
  • Listening - when, how, & why?

Session 2: Suzuki from the Early Years and Beyond (Oct 5)

  • The purpose of review - Why do we keep our old pieces going? Why not just move on?
  • Is Suzuki "just' for the little ones?
  • What benefits do teens and senior students get out of still being a Suzuki student (vs. only doing RCM, etc.)
  • Q&A - "hot" topics
