We are excited to have the opportunity to introduce you the Oakville Suzuki Association.
This program offers an overview of our music instruction that follows the Talent Education philosophy developed by Dr. Shinichi Suzuki. The Suzuki Method is a unique methodology that is a natural learning process also known as the mother tongue method.
Program includes:
- Two, 2-hour parent only classes: 2:00 - 4:00pm, Sept 21 (at Church of the Incarnation) and Oct 5 (at QEPCCC) led by renowned Suzuki Teacher trainer Elayne Ras.
- Attend a play-in concert & Try An Instrument: 5:00 - 7:00pm, Sept 12, (at QEPCCC)
- Observe a Group Class: 5:00 - 7:00pm Sept 26, Oct 3, or arranged on request, (at QEPCCC)
- First 5 parent's registered will receive Dr. Suzuki's book Nurtured by Love
- Upon completion of the sessions, you will have the option to enroll your child in violin, cello, flute, piano, or guitar lessons with the understanding and the tools to support your child on their musical journey

This course will provide you with the understanding and the tools to support your child on their musical journey in the Suzuki method, and will be led by renowned Suzuki Teacher trainer Elayne Ras in two 2-hour sessions: 2:00 - 4:00pm on September 21 (at Church of the Incarnation) and October 5 (at QEPCCC).
Session 1: The Suzuki Triangle (child, parent, teacher) and More (Sept 21)
- What to expect from all sides of the triangle, and how it changes over time.
- Role of the parent at lessons, groups, and home practice.
- Group classes - Why are they important?
- Listening - when, how, & why?
Session 2: Suzuki from the Early Years and Beyond (Oct 5)
- The purpose of review - Why do we keep our old pieces going? Why not just move on?
- Is Suzuki "just' for the little ones?
- What benefits do teens and senior students get out of still being a Suzuki student (vs. only doing RCM, etc.)
- Q&A - "hot" topics
