The OSA's group violin classes are for violin students from beginner through to the end of Book 4. Returning students should register in their classes as indicated on their Violin Group Class Placement Sheet. New students should register in the level recommeded by their private teacher.
The OSA's group violin program is comprised of two parts: an instrumental class and a non-instrumental Kodaly class, which work to develop a student's playing ability and his or her musical literacy in tandem. Initially these classes are 30 minutes each per week, and are extended to 45 minutes each per week as the student advances. For our more advanced group students we also offer Reading and RCM Theory classes.
This year we are also offering the opportunity to "bundle" an additional class into the Violin group class at a special discount: Violin + Kodaly + Reading or Violin + Reading + Theory. This option is only available for select classes on Thursday evenings (as the schedule allows), so if you are interested in one of the Triple Bundles, please consult with your teacher and contact our registrar.
The OSA Violin Group Class year includes up to 30 weeks of instruction including a Halloween party and the annual Violin Workshop in the spring. The last violin classes before the Christmas break and the summer break are dress rehearsals, respectively, for the OSA's Christmas concert in December and the final Violin Concert.
